It’s already 12:01 am the D-day and everywhere is buzzing, everyone excited, cars moving and hurrying as it’s the actual date for Nigeria to gain her independence.
Announcements and cheers of excitement billows across the nation’s radio and televisions as everyone are excited and ready for the beginning of a new dawn.
The National anthem has been composed and everyone is all ready to see the flag of the new nation fly high in the air while they chant the anthem with all beams of glorious smiles.
Everything is already set and working from the parliament constitution, leadership and all eligible contestants from the country’s 3 regions are showing interest in suitable positions where they would like to serve and develop the country.
The new country is a multi-ethnic nation that is made up of people from different tribes and of different languages and faith.
The East made up of the Igbos who are famous for their trading and brilliancy, Western region which is made up of the Yorubas mainly and the Bendel State now present day Edo and Delta states, they were famous for their agricultural prowess and their educational influence, while the Northern region was also known for its animal rearing and groundnut pyramids.
The National anthem “Nigeria We Hail Thee” has been memorized and everyone well dressed and uniformed according to their age grouping or association, flags are being held by young and old to show Solidarity and patriotism to the new country .
After the former British African colony got independence, Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa became the first Prime Minister, while Nnamdi Azikwe became the Governor General of the federation, 3 years later and the new country has been declared as a Republic on her own.
53 years on and the country has been retrogressive due to irregularities it has been met with, ranging from mismanagement and bad leadership that has made the country so bad and let her people lose interest in patriotism.
It’s 2022 and the old British African Colony cannot boast of things that use to be her prife and made her the centre of focus and attraction to foreign investors...
