Davido and Wizkid


It’s no longer news that Davido was featured on FIFA World Cup anthem, while Wizkid got nominated for The Grammy award. 


The Past week which ushered in all these achievements for the Nigerian stars started with Davido being invited to make the World Cup anthem alongside Aisha and Trinidad Cardona in it’s official soundtrack Hayya Hayya(Better Together).


This however generated alot of mixed reactions from the fans of Wizkid popularly known as ‘Wizkid FC’ who said Davido didn’t deserve it or shouldn’t have gotten it.


Fast forward to the Grammy Awards, ‘Wizkid FC’ had to chill with the hope that their favorite was the greatest of all time to have bagged a world nomination and it was obvious he will bring it home.


Wizkid who was nominated alongside African singer Angelique Kidjo and some other stars on the ‘Global Music Category’ couldn’t make it as he lost the award to Angelique Kidjo.


This however tripled the online trolling and almost went wild as fans of different stars went extra ways to show their support or defend their stars.


A user who also commented on the trend said;

“Can we Africans stop being abusive or aggressive in a bid to defend our favs!?

We can act do this without getting in anyone’s space”.


Another said;


“Fight wey all of una carry for head, una no go taste for the reward money”.


The whole scenario seemed to have cooled off as Wizkid congratulated the winner.
